How to Get More Google Reviews for Your Business
Google reviews matter for your business. Not only do they build trust and credibility, but they also help you to rank higher on Google (which is important for being found locally and by new customers!). Did you know that 88% of people trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations? Google prioritises businesses that are active, credible, and trusted. The more Google Reviews your have, the more likely you are to turn browsers into buyers.
But, how do you get more Google reviews?
Firstly, you need to make your business a Google Business Profile. You can do this here: https://business.google.com/en-all/business-profile/
1. Ask the Right Way
Most happy customers won’t leave a review unless you ask them directly. The trick is to:
a) Ask at the right time, which is usually right after you’ve completed a job, project, or service, when they’re happiest and you are fresh in their mind.
b) Make it personal. A quick message or email from you, not an automated system, feels more genuine.
2. Make It as Easy as Possible
When asking for a Google review, send a direct link that opens your review form in one click, and takes them directly to your Google Business Profile. You can generate your custom link here: https://support.google.com/business/answer/7035772?hl=en
3. Build It Into Your Process
Make asking for reviews part of your process and make it a priority to ask for them.
- Add your review link to your email signature
- Include it at the bottom of invoices or completion notes, or even on your business cards
- Mention it verbally when finishing a job
4. Show That You Really Value Reviews
Always respond when someone leaves you a Google Review. When people see that you read and respond to reviews, they’re more likely to leave one. Even just “Thanks so much for your kind words, [Name]!” shows you take on board the feedback and appreciate the time spent leaving you one. You can also use these reviews for your marketing, like including a quote on your flyer or in your brochure.
5. Remind Repeat Customers
If someone’s used your services more than once, it’s okay to ask again if they have not left you a review yet. It also okay to gently remind a customer about leaving a Google Review if they don’t leave one the first time you ask. Wait 2 – 3 weeks, and then you can reach out asking again. Sometimes, people just forget!
6. Share Positive Reviews on Social Media
When you share or celebrate reviews, it not only builds trust with followers but also encourages others to do the same. Share your Google Reviews on your social media, in a whether in an eye-catching, branded graphic format or simply a screenshot or copy and pasted.
Getting more Google reviews doesn’t require fancy tools, but it should make up a part of your process. The more Google Reviews you get, you build your SEO visibility and stronger customer trust.
